Collision

Two water drops collide: the first drop has splashed back up in what's known as a "Worthington jet" at the precise instant that a second drop impacts it and bursts into a crown.

 

[Info: This is from the first tests of my Arduino-based water drop rig. Uses the Duemilanova board with my homemade "shield" to interface the detector and flash trigger. Sigma EF-500DG at 1/64 gelled pinkish-orange behind the drop, Vivtar 285HV modded to allow 1/64 or so, gelled blue-green to the right.]
