Question:

Is it riskier to put $5 into a slot machine, knowing that, however much you hope, you have already lost it? Or to give $5 to the guy on the street who claims his child needs a meal, knowing that he might, instead, use your money for liquor or drugs?

 

My Answer (after much thought): Option 1 is a sure thing... you lose $5 to the rich guys who own the casino. Option 2 is uncertain... you might lose $5 to a bad cause. Or, you might feed a child for a day. You will never know.

 

I vote for taking a chance on an anonymous good deed.
