Sound of Music, 2023

This beautiful production of Sound of Music was cut short by the illness of key stage performers and musicians. In community theater there are no paid understudies or easy substitutions. Four of the seven planned performances had to be cancelled. It was my privilege to be there for the invited review rehearsal and take the photos. I also watched from the audience at their opening night. The extraordinary performances, set, lighting and costumes will not be enjoyed by the people who bought tickets for the second weekend. over half of all the people who planned to attend. I worked very hard on the photos in this album as a tribute to the great work that was donated by the citizen performers, the artistic designers, seamstresses, theater leadership and, especially, the children. A beautiful moment in their lives ended with heartbreak, but with memories that will last all their lives. These photographs are meant to help them.
