The Floating Grid – Architecture in Suspension (Explored)
Beneath a shifting twilight sky, one of Equinor’s most iconic buildings rises like a futuristic sculpture above the Fornebu landscape. Captured in a 30-second long exposure, the structure seems to defy gravity — with cantilevered volumes stacked like a game of modernist Jenga.
Designed by a-lab architects, the building was completed in 2012 and quickly became a landmark in Norwegian architecture. With its five interlocking volumes — each 140 meters long — it was conceived to reflect both efficiency and openness.
A striking intersection of geometry, innovation and Nordic minimalism, this is architecture in motion, frozen in time.
