Spongostan - Lung
Spongostan(TM) was found in a biopsy site in a resected lobe of lung containing adenocarcinoma.
Spongostan(TM) absorbable hemostatic gelatin sponge is a sterile, water-insoluble, malleable porcine sponge that is widely used as a hemostatic material. This material will create a barrier together with fibrin which will stop the bleeding in 2–10 minutes and will be completely resorbed in 4–6 weeks. It is identical to Surgifoam®. Spongostan(TM) and Surgifoam®are available as a sponge and as a flowable matrix, whereas Gelfoam®, an essentially identical hemostatic agent, is available in sponge form only.
