Ruthton Point, Color, June 2013
Possibly the last in my series of Ruthton Point pictures, unless I get a really good one this fall.
As is often the case, my wife and I were chasing the sunlight eastward through the Columbia Gorge, often arriving at a place moments before it disappeared seemingly forever behind a berlin wall of clouds. Seeing our chances for good light fading fast, we threw in the towel, and stopped at the 3 Rivers Grill in Hood River for a bite. I kept an eye on the clouds while we were there, and noticed an opening just as we finished eating. We made it to Ruthton Point in a few minutes, and I raced out of the car with my Hasselblad and the Speed Graphic. I didn't think I had time to meter, so I didn't. I guessed that the bright parts of the foreground were 1 stop below full sun, and did a quick calculation. I shot a bunch of pictures with both cameras until the light faded. It felt good to catch the good light for a change.
Camera: Speed Graphic 4x5.
Lens: 127mm Kodak Ektar.
