GVB - Siemens Combino (13G/C1), 2087 (Natura Artis Magistra), tram 9, Plantage Middenlaan (Amsterdam)

This very colorful tram is advertising for Artis Royal Zoo (Natura Artis Magistra) and it is the newest advertisement tram in Amsterdam. The colors of the tram are representing the colors of all the animals that can be found in Artis. Natura Artis Magistra (its official name) was opened in 1838 and since a few years it’s being expanded and renovated to give its animals more space. Part of the renovation was the opening of the Micropia Museum in September last year and Combino 2125 was promoting this museum with its Micropia-advertisement.

Today is the first day of service of Artis-tram 2087. It runs on tram line 9 (which connects the Central Station and the city center with Artis, coincidence?) and I was able to photograph it at the crossing of the Plantage Middenlaan and the Plantage Kerklaan (where the Artis entrance is located). The 2087 just left the Artis tram stop (the stop was previously called Plantage Kerklaan but was renamed to make it more recognizable for the Artis-visitors) and is on its way to its terminus in Diemen (Sniep).
