I was as I like to say 'transported' to Australia as a teenager and I understand that feeling of grief/desire/longing for that place where you think you belong. A feeling that is intensified somewhat as it not something I'm allowed to mention without incurring the wrath of 'ingratitude' from my Aussie family members who take it as a personal insult to the country we live in. On the other hand I'm happy that they have no idea what it can be like. I spied the elephant in the room this week going to my regular sanity saver: Phillip Island.
