Blowin' In The Wind
EXPLORE #256, Jan 5/10
My first addition to my "Wing" set this year is this beautiful little Black-capped Chickadee that I took yesterday.........I was going to post more from our Gatineau trip, however, Santa brought me a new surprise and I just had to give it a test drive...I finally got around using my new DSC-HX1 with my new 1.7X Tele-conversion Lens ....I enjoy using all my Sony's lol...Thanks Santa ;)
"Even when temperatures are far below zero, chickadees virtually always sleep in their own individual cavities. In rotten wood, they can excavate nesting and roosting holes entirely on their own."
"A bird almost universally considered “cute” thanks to its oversized round head, tiny body, and curiosity about everything, including humans. The chickadee’s black cap and bib; white cheeks; gray back, wings, and tail; and whitish underside with buffy sides are distinctive. Its habit of investigating people and everything else in its home territory, and quickness to discover bird feeders, make it one of the first birds most people learn."
(I've been trying to nail a shot of a chickadee all year without success until yesterday lol ;) Whoopee!! I just love seeing these cuties..While in Gatineau on our walk...they were perching on my husband's hand in the woods........ Darling to see.......just darling.
