Return to Humber Valley
Isn't it great how things turn out sometime. It was a dull and dreary Saturday morning, I really didn't have any plans and as I was heading out to do some shopping the phone rang.
"hey, you wan'na go to the Humber".
Of course I said yes, I would never refuse an invite to one of my favourite places to snapp off a few regardless of the weather, summer, winter, rain or shine. Shopping can wait. Like I said, it wasn't a particularly nice day, not a lot of sun, even a bit over-cast but to the Humber we went and I'm so happy we did.
After roaming the parklands and lagoons for a couple of hours without seeing anything too exciting, almost disappointedly we decided to leave the valley in search of something else to do for the rest of the day. We stopped at a picnic table down by the river to have some snacks and make an alternate plan.
Suddenly the sun came out and everything came to life, birds started flying all around, animals scurrying everywhere, fish jumping in the water, it was almost as if mother nature pushed the ON button and one of the most sudden transformations that I had ever experienced. From the mundane to the thrilling in the blink of an eye.
Needless to say our cameras started working overtime and just before the clouds came back, this magnificent creature landed on the far shore. What a surprise, what a fantastic surprise. I had seen this bird on a previous visit but never managed to get a decent shot. This time, it was ready to sit and pose with wings spread wide. What an actor, what a show-off, it absolutely made my day.
Once again, a trip to the Humber turned into a fantastic adventure, filled with unexpected surprises and everlasting memories.
Don't you just love it when a plan comes together.
