These guys are outdoing themselves this year! They sound like mockingbirds on steroids! Their songs are so very beautiful and then they toss in that random cat noise and it's so funny! I love them! There is a chestnut-colored patch under the tail. The notes say it is a secretive bird that the Chippewa Indians named Bird That Cries With Grief due to its raspy call. The call sounds like the mewing of a house cat, hence the common name. More often heard than seen . . . I must say that I see them all the time.
