Tour Kupka / Tour Pacific | Paris La Défense [Explored]

This scene has become something of an ongoing project for me. I first visited the location on my previous stay in Paris back in 2015 and was never happy with the shots I got then, the light wasn't great and I couldn't seem to salvage them much in Lightroom.

 

This time I was armed with the Canon tilt shift lens to help better capture this very expansive scene, and also a few years more experience of challenging locations.

 

Anyway, I arrived in Paris at Gare Du Nord on Monday afternoon; after checking into the hotel I didn't waste any time and hopped on the RER to Chatelet Les Halles then changed there en route to La Défense.

 

Fortunately I just about remembered where the slightly precarious-feeling staircase was that affords this viewpoint and headed straight there.

 

Popped the 6D on my trusty Gitzo tripod and snapped off a couple of frames and called it done (spoiler alert, I returned this evening, Thurs 2nd Feb, and did get some proper night shots as well - I will post in due course) . This is a combined 2-frame vertical panorama.

 

Most shots I've seen here are taken at night when it's much darker than this but I like the reflections you get shooting here before sundown. Unfortunately the weather was almost completely grey and overcast for the whole time I've been here, but that didn't stop me trying to get a few images from places I'd planned to visit.
