St. Mary's Church Burghfield
From the big city to the small village we go, as I begin this year's house- and cat-sitting stint for my parents in Burghfield Common. This is the nearest parish church, St. Mary's Burghfield.
I like the subtlety of the late-afternoon sunlight illuminating the scene here. In previous years doing my very understated stays at my folks place I've been quite introverted photographically, often staying in and around the house and using the cat as main subjects. This time I have plans to visit a few locations to take photographs of notable cathedrals. This afternoon I felt like keeping local as a little aperitif.
Also, there are very few images of this church on Flickr, so I thought it could bear the addition of the hopefully half-decent ones that I took.
This image was a two frame vertical panorama giving me the final result of a square image. Didn't manage to quite nail the focus somehow, but at web resolutions I think I can get away with it in this instance! The 17mm tilt shift lens from Canon is manual focus only, which means needing to use live view and punching in 10x to try and get a decent focus.
