A selection of shots from this years Concours Of Elegance event, held in the very picturesque grounds of Hampton Court Palace.

There were many challenges to photography again this year, namely loads and loads of people, even from when the doors opened at 10am. Also the very bright sunlight was not only hot to be out in, but gave me some problems with the intense highlights and deep shadows that sunlight usually causes. Also, the cars were spaced much closer together than I'd been hoping and expecting. Finally the red placards they had arranged in front of every car were very obtrusive; although I was rather bold and started moving them just enough out of the way to be able to get a clean shot!

Despite all this, I did manage to get a pretty good crop of shots, much cleaner than the ones from last year's event at Windsor Castle. I'm always trying to get nice clean frames without any people in, and preferably not any other cars in. This was quite a tall order given the limitations I mentioned above, and in some cases I had to sit or squat patiently for up to 15 mins next to some of the more popular cars in order for the people to disperse just long enough to get the shot I wanted! Perseverance did pay off in most cases though :)
