The Sound of Steps on the Stairs

Those four friends (three boys and a dog) sneaked slowly inside through the gigantic broken window. It was a cold night and the moon shined brightly into the big almost empty room. The four friends were absolutely quiet. Normally you expect from those young boys that there would talk excitedly about what they had found there. Bute those one didn’t say anything. Maybe this was because of the strange mood that reigned in the house. Or maybe it was because of that what happened next: Suddenly the silence was broken by the sound of steps on stairs. The four friends looked frightened up to the spiral stairway. A young woman walked slowly down the stairs. She looked scared too and just a second later the boys noticed why. A group of three strong Northmen, armed to the teeth, had this girl on the staircase in their focus. But when the boys took a closer look at these people their noticed that they where a little bit pale and transparent for normal people. There was just one question in the heads of the boys: Ghosts?! But why this sound on the stairs?
