Courthouse ruins, Pointe a La Hache, LA.

The city is a very small village south of New Orleans with a population of 187. The city has been horribly ravaged in the last decades due to hurricanes. Unsure of when the courthouse was originally built, however it has many documented cases of being destroyed. In 1915 a hurricane flooded the area heavily including the courthouse, material was salvaged and rebuilt. The above picture is what remains of the 1915 rebuilt building. In 1965, Hurricane Betsy devastated the area hitting the courthouse again. More than 50 people rode out the storm in the courthouse. All survived. The current state is the remains of an arson in 2002 and some historical repairs after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
