In the window @ 1801 Dauphine Street, NOLA.
The plastered-brick first floor of this two-story corner storehouse was built before 1833 for free men of color, Charles Laveaux, father of the Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau [sic]. Laveaux bought the property directly from Bernard de Marigny in 1817. C. Erne, the 1869 purchaser, added the frame second story and the cast iron gallery that turns around the corner, like the building, to follow the bend on the road.
