Hurricane Katrina Memorial, Shell Beach, LA.

The land for the memorial site was donated by the Doullut family in memory of Lynn Gagnon, an educator and environmentalist who died several years before Katrina and had fought for the closure of the MR-GO, which 10 years ago was blamed for shotgunning a wall of water into the parish and the Lower 9th Ward, destroying everything in its path. The Katrina Memorial

Cross, a large stainless steel cross bearing the face of Jesus designed by Arabi welder and fabricator Vincent LaBruzzo Sr., stands a few feet off shore.
