This model of the mountain at the Roaring Brook ranger station, with trails painted on, seemed to have exaggerated the vertical scale when we saw it in the morning. On our return, it looked eerily accurate. We went up the ridge on the left, traversed the ridge from left to right through about one o'clock, then descended on the trail marked in yellow at the lowest point of the ridge and came out from Chimney Pond on the Roaring Brook trail.
