[5-30-2011] - Deception Pass Bridge

A scenic beauty in the Pacific Northwest.

The Deception Pass Bridge is the crown jewel of Deception Pass State Park. A two lane bridge made up of two sections crossing Canoe Pass and Deception pass it connects Whidbey Island to Fidalgo Island. It is hard not to be swept away by the views while driving or walking over the bridge. Its sweeping views include old growth forests, the Straight of Juan de Fuca and the Saratoga Passage, on a particularly clear day you can see majestic Mount Baker off in the distance.

It is the kind of view one never tires off. The very best of human engineering co-existing with the beautifully protected landscape around it. Every time I visit this place I can’t help but feel some home-state pride, this is the Evergreen State at its best.
