Bank of England - Misprinted £5 note
Two sequentially numbered "Duke of Wellington" £5 notes issued but caught ex-bank before going into general circulation. The top note carries the serial number 'A17 405612' in the top left hand corner, in the bottom right hand corner it's totally missing but has very lightly written in pencil 'A18 405618'! There is a diagonal crease and 'A1' has been printed diagonally on the reverse, suggesting this note fouled up during the numbering process.
The Bank of England issued these banknotes from 1971 to 1991. It features HM Elizabeth II on the face and the Duke of Wellington and a battle scene with a cannon and cavalry on the reverse.
