To aid LIRR's demand for equipment on the Montauk line, LIRR leased coaches from MARC, a commuter railroad in Maryland. Long Island Rail Road performed a series of tests between Port Jefferson and Jamaica to ensure compatibility between the equipment and the infrastructure.
