This was taken from the last train from Sheffield to Huddersfield via the Woodhead route as far as Penistone. The service took the route from Nunnery Main Line Junction to Nunnery Junction and reversed opposite Nunnery carriage sidings.
During reversal, the driver would walk down through the train to the other end, before setting off and crossing over to the correct line for the usually very fast journey to Penistone.
