This is a shop selling Alams silver standard heads of the Panjetan Paak..that is the Holy Prophet, Hazrat Ali his son in law , JanabeFatima his daughter, his grand children Hazrat Imam Hassan andHazrat Imam Hussain.
And these kids I espied from my cycle rickshah.. reversed just to take this picture.. there is no pictorial greatness but they are under the shadow of The Alams and our Imams and our Beliefs and Our Pain .. our heritage as Shias.. the American soldiers stationed in Iraq that write back to you will tell you an unseen fervour more stronger than anything or any governmental power the power of Ya Hussain ..
Ya Hussain... Moharram its the grief and nothing else that matters to a Shia.
And nothing can change the ethos of his being born to mourn for his Imam.
Western thought may not find acceptance to this practice and this belief.. but it exists for last 1400 years,, they tried to stop it, denigerate it as misguidance but the love of the grandchildren of the Holy Prophet and the ultimate sacrifice at Karbala.. surrmounts everything... there is a small Imambara at our rented cubilcle of our house and wife the women folk do Matam.. at the end of it distribute the Hissa.. sweets.
I was wondering where I will go this Moharram.. I am stuck in Mumbai.. all the fervour is in town at the grand Moghul Masjid.. I havent gone there .. last evening was a massive power failure no lights..
there is no internet connection at our new place...
Incidentally the rented place is ironically a building built on cards , looks like badly bombed edifice , is unrightfully called White House at Bandra Bazar Road.
