The Penseller

I spotted him near the Bandra Hill Road Parsi Agiary he was selling pens to two young girls 3 pens for Rs 10 he had a vast range ..both his pockets had pens of a higher range .

The girls bought pens worth Rs 30 and I began talking to him he stays at Bhoisar and leaves home early morning to sell pens he moves into different areas every day returns home by 11 pm ..he has his lunch outside .

His elder daughter and his son in law are dead so along with 4 other daughter he takes care of his two maternal grandchildren.

His remaining daughters suffer from a genetic malady they have normal bodies but diminutive heads ..

And I was amazed how he carried within him bottled pain..he is a Muslim .

I thanked him and hoped that his bad days go away this is one man that could really do with the 15 lacs that Modiji had promised before the elections .

This is Mumbai ...Rich people Poor People ..the pen seller has studied till 6 class ..and he still believes that what he is undergoing is part of his cosmic fate .

I did not buy any pens it would seem I was trying to compensate him for this accidental interview .

.but I will when I meet him next time .

I have been busy with my wife taking care of her mother Wassim who is now come for treatment at our house as the doctors in Lucknow messed up her case and she is being treated by my very dear friend Dr Suchak Rohit. He has prescribed some medicine and this frail lady is responding to his treatment .

She is over 74 years old and every morning I get her coconut water citron and other fruits as her appetite has diminished.

She is like my mother and both my parents are dead my father in law too is bedridden and trying to recover from TB of the lungs ..he was in his heydays a body builder .

Both of them are very dear to me and I skipped dinner last night hit the sack I was pleased I had spoken to both my granddaughters Marziya and Nerjis ..they are waiting for their father who is out of station on work.

To all of you a very happy Janmashtami.

Jai Govinda Jai Gopala.

I don't think I will shoot the feast ..going to Dadar on my bad foot in the crowds won't be a good idea..besides now the feast is totally politicized .

But we have tennis tomorrow that one good silver lining in disguise ..
