polarised safety glasses

Macro Mondays 'safety' theme.

 

The image shows part of my husband's clear plastic safety glasses, jazzed up with polarisation.

I love the colours, and am fascinated by the polarisation of plastics but I can't say I understand the science of it. I just know how to do it. 😊 The plastic needs to be placed between two sources of polarised light - I use the polarised light of a bright white image on my monitor screen and a circular polariser on my lens. Twisting the polariser takes the white background of the screen through shades of grey to black, making the colours look more vivid the darker it gets.
