Handmade ink samples from my ink notebook: 2 iron gall inks

Notice the swab sample is brown. It was done with a Q-tip. The writing was done with a Speedball metal dip nib. I believe the metal in the nib chemically reacts with ink to make the blacker color. When I use a glass pen, I get the browner color.
