Digging Ditches
The West Tower, West Range and East Tower at Helmsley Castle, built in the early 12th century by Walter Espec. The castle was strengthened and modernised throughout the Middle Ages but during the Civil War its defences were dismantled. The path on the left is part of the earthworks walk. The structure is in the care of English Heritage.
