The Tail Wags

Bridlington look for potentially crucial runs at Pickering towards the end of their innings. This scoring shot proved fruitless because the visitors lost by eight wickets at Pickering Recreation Club in a Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League Division One fixture. Victory in a fourth-versus-fifth encounter all but assures the hosts of finishing in the promotion positions. An impressive unbroken stand of 158 for the third wicket between Dave Greenlay and Chris Nichols saw Pickering home after a hesitant start.

Match statistics: Bridlington 178-9 off 48 overs (Richard Lount 90, Nick Tennant 23, Tom Sigsworth 5-44, Mark Shepherd 3-43) 5pts lost by eight wickets to Pickering 179-2 off 37.1 overs (Dave Greenlay 94no, Chris Nichols 66no) 30pts. Bridlington won the toss and elected to bat. Admission: free. Attendance: 50. Tea: £3.50 (finger buffet).
