Simple Obvious
Most junked cars I encounter date from a time before scrapyards reached rural Nova Scotia. It was pretty common to dump your old rust heap at the back of a field, or like in this case, roll it down the nearest embankment. The end result is the same, slowly rusting or quickly crushed – one just happens a whole lot quicker. I've got a particular appreciation for these relics not driven in my lifetime. They have no potential wasted, but rather, spent. Drained of all usefulness, pushed to the absolute end before being literally run into the ground. When I'm feeling weary, they always serve like metaphors to me. Simple, obvious ones, sure – but some way to see myself reflected in what's left to linger behind. Deep breath, now.
