Black & White : Bark Texture

This week I am trying a mini project to improve my ability to take B&W images. The aim is to produce one image a day covering the themes of Line; Shape; Form; Texture: and Tone. Rather than just snap away and convert, the intention is to try and think about the image in advance and then set up the shot. To-day's exercise is * Texture *

This tropical tree trunk had an underlying smoothness with the peeling bark allowing some contrast in the texture. I waited unril the sun light started to glance across the trunk and thought the leaf shadow added something by allowing a gradual transition in light. Not sure this works too well..perhaps i needed more peling bark.
