W9 Supermoon lunar eclipse Sept. 2015

Two celestial events occurred simultaneously, a supermoon and a lunar eclipse. The last time this happened was in 1982. The next time this will happen will be 2033. Roughly 10 minutes between each shot with less during eclipse phase.

The red moon is possible because while the moon is in total shadow, some light from the sun passes through Earth’s atmosphere and is bent toward the moon. While other colors in the spectrum are blocked and scattered by Earth’s atmosphere, red light tends to make it through easier.
