Exhibit: "Roundabout Chair" (about 1760-1775) mahagony

Origin: New Yourk City (late XVIII-th century) New York, USA

MFA info: 'Roundabout' Chairs (named after their round back) were made throughout the colonies. They were used in various rooms, often paired with a desk or writing table. The low arms fit under the writing surface, while still providing elbow support. Although variously called, -- corner chairs, round chairs, three-cornered chairs, or triangular chairs, -- the most common name is roundabout chair.
