Peeling onions line at Decento Khladkontakt
Decento Khladkontakt in Bilyaivka (Odesa Oblast), Ukraine is engaged in the cultivation, storage, processing, and sale of vegetable crops. In 2018, the company co-invested with USAID Agriculture and Rural Development Support Project (ARDS) project to purchase and install an onion peeler. ARDS also supported Decento to implement international HACCP production standards. The main advantages of this upgrade are the higher value of peeled onions and expansion of sales markets, especially export and nationwide with Auchan and METRO supermarkets. Introducing automated onion peeling increased sales of processed onions from 400 to 1,300 tons during the season and attracted 18 additional smaller producers to the supply chain.
