In the 1920,s in response to the collapse of the "Dark Tobacco" prices, the County Agent in Barren County persuaded many farmers to turn to Dairying.The barns rise vertically 3 to 5 Feet, slant out and upward at a 30 degree angle for a few feet, then return to the vertical 5 to 8 feet off of the ground. The slanted side forms a feed trough, into which hay could be easily forked into from loft.
