20220904 - Father Mychal Judge Remembrance Walk - 001
“Good days. And bad days. Up days. Down days. Sad days. Happy days. But never a boring day on this job. You do what God has called you to do. You show up. You put one foot in front of another. You get on the rig and you go out and you do the job – which is a mystery. And a surprise. You have no idea when you get on that rig. No matter how big the call. No matter how small. You have no idea what God is calling you to. But he needs you. He needs me. He needs all of us.” –Father Mychal F. Judge, lead FDNY Chaplain, who spoke those words during a mass held at FDNY Engine 73 and Ladder 42 on September 10, 2001, one day before he lost his life, one of the 343 #FDNY members killed at the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. On September 4, 2022, FDNY members, family and friends traced the footsteps of Father Judge at the 20th annual Father Mychal Judge Walk of Remembrance. The tribute began with a mass at Father Judge’s church, Church of St. Francis of Assisi, in Midtown, across the street from Engine 1 and Ladder 24, and ended at St Peter - Our Lady of the Rosary Parish NYC on Barclay Street. Along the way, participants stopped at various firehouses and police precincts to honor the memory of those killed on that day nearly 21 years ago. #NeverForget
