Even though I say so myself the more I look at this shot, the more I like it, I like the contrast of the smooth water on the right with the sand ripples on the left and I like the way they lead you in along the join curving into Cramond Island in the middle distance. I like the light on the ripples and the color throughout. I also like the hint of the mountains in the far distance. (view large). It's a shot I've been thinking of for a while but wasn't sure about... it was also memorable for other reasons, see below.
Sometimes things just aren't meant to be. Last week there were some stunning sunrises and sunsets, I missed them all but today managed to make it out for one and it was turning into a cracker. I went to a local location I've been meaning to try for some time and it was looking good. I fired of some shots to get into the groove and could see a spot just along the beach and was building up to getting the exposure and composition that I wanted. I was one shot away from that point when my batteries failed. Not a problem I thought... I've another 4 sets in my bag. First set was dead, not a problem I've another three, second set dead, third set dead.... please let there be enough in the last set for one shot, just one shot, please... nope dead. I hardly swore at all, I was quite philosphical about it, and instead enjoyed the stunning sunset.
I'm not finished yet though. I got home, picked up my battery charger and promptly dropped it, breaking it in such a way that it wasn't going to work but I knew some super glue would sort it, went to get the super glue and it was empty, even prised open the tube hoping for a last drop but none. Sometimes things just aren't meant to be.
That said I am really quite pleased with what I did get :o)
