I've seen some portraits of Alex Grey and wanted to do something that was mostly original, explained my interpretation of him as an artist, and also the effect he has on others with his work..

so I sketched his face out about a year and half ago on the canvas..

yes that’s right..

And it’s been on the canvas waiting..

Something always stopped me from gessoing over it to begin a new painting..

So I hauled it up in the Uhaul with the rest of the selected works coming with us to the mountains..

And now that the painting studio is complete..

I begin.

Alex Grey and his wife Allyson Grey did a live painting show in Denver a week ago…

I saw the effect it brought upon another fellow artist we brought along..

Also to note - while roaming around the venue a beautiful girl with long brown hair stopped in front of me, grabbed my shoulders and just had her face in my face..

She was out of breath and said “Did you feel that wave??!” and she started fanning herself , laughing hysterically ..

ran off dancing into the crowd. ..and that was my hello and goodbye to a complete stranger.

Ripple effect.

That’s it.

It’s perfect.

The black you see there is meant to be for white highlights of water ripples coming toward you and outward..

The rest well it’ll come out when it comes out.

I giggled to myself when the words came to mind ---“Holycrap! I just split Alex Grey’s head open!”
