Lighthouse "Mangiabarche"
The beach of Mangiabarche has vertical cliffs which plunge into the sea. In front, useful to identify the beach, a lighthouse is positioned to avoid the ‘mangiabarche’ (boat eater) phenomenon, i.e. boats crashing into the rocks which rise out of the water.
Its waters are of a changing blue due to the plays of light created by the sun reflecting off the sea bed.
The cliffs of Mangiabarche are found in the locality of Punta Mangiabarche on the Island of Sant’Antioco in the municipal area of Calasetta. It is reached by going along a dirt track road which leads off from the coast road before getting to the beaches of Calasetta.
