Surrounded by the English Channel, the granite island of Mont-Saint-Michel is overhung by its majestic abbey, crowned by the statue of Saint Michel which culminates at 157 meters at the top of the spire. It is the most visited spot in Normandy, and this has been the case for a long time. Did you know that in the early twentieth century a railroad served the Mount? Since 2014 the new footbridge on stilts allows to approach it more slowly, and to enjoy the view.
