HAM ON CAMERA
One learns quite quickly which subjects are amenable to a more direct approach when doing street photography. Sometimes the signs are subtle, and you have a "hunch" of whom to approach, and who is best photographed more surrepticiously, but ethically and legally.
When one sees a woman sporting a rainbow Mohawk, bubbling exuberance like a volcano, and unabashed confidence like a Navy Seal, it doesn't take much sophisticated analysis to know you got a "live one".
This young woman was a hoot. When she saw me with the camera she started "performing". This was one of the poses she struck amldst lots of laughter and checking in with me as to whether this or that pose was "hot".
Events like Pride and protests are fast paced photograph rich environments. In a way that is good, but upon meeting someone like this marvelous young woman, I would have appreciated the option of slowing down and just speaking with her and basking in her radiant disposition.
I do give out my cards, and invite folks to contact me and I will send them the image files. I'm running about 30% requests, which I think is pretty good.
