ENDANGERED SPECIES

Exept for the nod to modernity in the powered buffring unit, the shine stand is a disappearing sight in train stations, airports, , hotels, and barber shops, etc.

This one in St. Paul's Union Depot seldom sees a soul stop by as I was told by the owner. However, Union Depot has contracted with him to be there and he gets paid whether he shines shoes or not. Anything he makes shining shoes is gravy.

Unfortunately . . . "No gravy".

He looked at my rough leather hiking shoes, rather sadly, I might add. I was definitely not a prospect with shoes like that.
