Prang

This twin seater 2OCU Mirage IIID, A3-105, crashed approximately 12 kilometres east of Darwin on the night of 26 April 1984. The crew were on a training flight when a malfunction forced them to eject at a height of 900 meters travelling at 350 kilometres per hour.

 

The crew FLGOFF J. Barden and PLTOFF J. Condon recieved only minor injuries during the incident and were returned to flight status after a short period of recouperation and medical checks.

 

This was ejection number 62 for the Royal Australian Air Force. The wreckage was recoverd from the crash site and remained on the Air Force base until it became part of the Aviation Heritage Centre in Darwin.
