Kecak Fire & Trance Dance
Kecak dances are an amazing spectacle combining a portion of the Hindu epic Ramanya with the male vocal percussive trance inducing chant of a traditional Balinese Sanghyang exorcism dance.
Originates from a collaboration between the indigenous population of Bali and a German expatriated painter to appeal to a Western audience in the 1930's.
It's an awe-inspiring production that reaches a fiery coconut kicking crescendo and I think its a "must see" if your lucky enough to visit Bali. The performances are from nearby small villages and the proceeds go towards the community.
This shot is taken in Ubud but I've heard amazing things about the performance in Uluwatu.
