Meherabad, the Indian Railways
Indian Railways is the largest network of rails, engines, tracks and such things in the world and it carries numbers and loads that are mind boggling. Leave the numbers aside, it takes away the romance. The charms and the sense of travel that the iron roosters provide is like nothign that any other mode of travel can give.
Meherabad in Maharashtra. It is an abode of the disciples of Meher Baba now. Very impressive. No tell tale tales of commerce that otherwise rule such places of belief. The nearby town of Shirdi which is where Sai Baba is the ruling presence is a mess of humanity. Chaotic, commercial and absolutely different.
Meherabad is peaceful. no commerce please and has vast open spaces. You and your maker can perhaps have a dialogue or maybe a soliloquy.
In the summer months the place does not receive any guests but rest of the year it is open and you can visit it and maybe rediscover yourself.

This was shot at a railway crossing near Meherabad. The series comprises of split second takes of the railway employee and the passing train. A project long in the making but done at Meherabad. I know not whom to thank. Meher baba, perhaps.
I have three flickr friends who are train spotters and lovers of the railways. This is also for them
