A Hazy Monsoon Day in Panhala

Panhala is in the western ghats of India and is the biggest fort in the Deccan Plateau. It falls in the zone where the clouds hang low and the fort remains forever in a haze of clouds and mist. The monsoon period is just wet wet wet wet and more wet.

Panhala has seen much intrigue and history played out for centuries, the most famous of which revolve around Chhatarpati Shivaji , the most popular hero of the Maratha people.

Personally for me the meaning of the old Hindi proverb"kahan Raja Bhoj aur kahan Gangu Teli" takes a definite and concrete shape as the fort was founded in 1178 by Raja Bhoj and the reference to Gangu Teli is steeped in the history of that time.
