all the little pieces
a drawing teacher once told me that i had great potential as an artist but that i was too fragmented as a person … and that, until i figured out how to meld all the fragments into a whole person, he doubted that i would realize much of my potential. this has haunted me for years because i value the man’s wisdom but have made little progress with defragmenting myself (this process was something he did not teach). these days i try to simply acknowledge and honor all the little pieces.
