There's no place like home II
As far as I have been able to find out, this is one of two cabins/houses ( the other one is about 100 ft to the east of this one, just not as picturesque ) belonging to Captain Sam's children, and part of the once active Farrington Sheep Ranch! They were at least partly if not completely Paiute Indian. Captain Sam was said to be one of the Paiute leaders during the Mariposa Indian War in the early 1850's.
Both of Captain Sam's daughters, Leanne and Louisa were married to Bridgeport Tom ( I don't know if that was at the Same time or...consecutively ;-)) , who owned the ranch and had to sell when the Los Angeles Aqueduct Project claimed his water rights.....
At first I was simply drawn to the looks of this....the ruins standing decaying, but then I was so curious about the who and when and why.......it stands....beckoning to the curious hungry souls amongst us....right along what is now Highway 395...
