Polarized light#4: How LCDs work

While you have your polarizing sunglasses to hand, try this neat experiment to help understand how LCDs work. Slowly rotate your sunglasses (they MUST be polarizing ones) and watch what happens to the image you can see. Hold your glasses at a certain angle and the image will be brightest. Turn them through 90 degrees, and this is what happens. Cool, eh?
