We live in a digital world
This is the sound chip from an old iPod Classic, c.2004 (upside down, showing the connections to the circuit board) perched on my finger with a Casio scientific calculator in the background. The interesting thing is the number of connections that the chip makes - each one of these silver dots plugs into the circuit board and links to the tracks on it, so the chip is presumably sending an awful lot of information to the circuit in parallel. Fascinating!
